TEAM ORGANIZATION & EVALUATION:
There are two levels of play in CYO soccer. Fifth and Sixth Grade boys and girls play co-ed Junior Varsity. Seventh and Eighth Grade athletes play Co-Ed Varsity.
Player training and evaluation will occur during the August Summer Training. It is ideal that players make all days of training camp, but we understand that this is a busy time for vacations. Players are required to make one week (Please email program director with unique situations). Training camp is the time to improve skills, evaluate and come together as a program.
Junior Varsity Team Organization
Talent will be evenly distributed with an emphasis on improvement and development.
Playing time: At least 50% of the game. Everyone will play in the playoffs but percentages cannot be guarantee with large teams and the increased emphasis on winning.
Varsity Team Organization
Playing time for Varsity: At least 25% of the game. Everyone will play in the playoffs but percentages cannot be guarantee with large teams and the increased emphasis on winning.
Large Teams: In the event of very large teams there may be a rotation implemented to insure quality playing time. The most common rotation breaks the team into three groups. Each group will take a turn sitting out so the team attending the game is manageable (around 16 to 18 players) for the coaches.
Spartan Soccer Summer Training (Tuesdays and Thursdays in August at Larkins Field)
Commitment: Please attend at least one week Contact the Soccer Program Director if you can not make it in the summer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Training camp is designed to evaluate our players but most importantly build the skills of our CYO program and bond as a team. Training camp will be held from 6:30 pm to 8 pm for all players on Tuesdays for skill work and small sided play. On Thursdays JV will attend from 6 to 7 and Varisty will play 7 to 8. We will play large soccer games on Thursday nights.
Players are required to bring water, a soccer ball, wear shin guards and cleats
CYO SOCCER SEASON:
September to November
Commitment: We prefer players make every practice, but please communicate with your coach with issues and exceptions. Constant and consistent communication about your child's availability for games is required. EFF is an excused absence. Contact the Soccer Program Director for special circumstances, email@example.com.
Practice times will vary. Practices could be right after school form 4 to 5:30 or in the evening after 5pm. Coaches will communicate practice time towards the end of August. Junior Varsity practices on Tuesdays and Varsity on Thursdays. Games dates and times are TBD.
Regular Season Practice begins September 7th
We encourage our athletes to attend all practices but understand that conflicts occur through the season. An extreme amount of missed practices can result in decreased playing time. EFF is an excused absence. Contact the Soccer Program Director for special circumstances, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Players should bring water, a soccer ball and wear shin guards / cleats to every practice.
Please communicate with the coaches about missed games. A missed game is excused if we have advanced notice. If your child is going to miss a game please alert the coaches at least three days in advance.
Soccer games are what it is all about! It is our opportunity to measure how we have improved as a team and work on continued improvement. In order for our team to preform at its best we have a few game policies that must be followed. These simple guidelines will keep the game experience fun for the kids and allow them to focus and improve.
1. Players should arrive at games 30 minutes before kickoff to allow for proper warm up, preparation and discussion.
2. Parents are asked to sit on the opposite side of the field from the team and not approach the bench during the games. This allows the kids to focus on the game and is a common practice of area clubs. The kids should have water and anything else they need with them before the game begins.
3. All spectators are asked to cheer on our athletes and remain positive towards all officials, players and parents.
We can alway use some help!
As the fall season progresses there may be some opportunities for our program to participate in tournaments. Tournament teams will be selected based on season performance and player will be invited to participate.
